Set Multiple Sites as Homepage in Firefox

(This might be laughably old news to veteran geeks. I will forever remain a noob.)

Basically, fill up the homepage url as site1 | site 2| site 3 (or more), e.g. google.com | dailyshow.com | colbertnation.com

When you open your homepage, all the above sites will open in tabs. Keyboard shortcut: Alt+Home.

Have yet to test in chrome or opera. Too lazy to google. o.ozzz

Sexy Science

(Damn, puritan Firefox hates it when I try to close some tabs on animal sex? Crashes every single time.)
Warning: slightly perverted geeky post, if only from a prude’s point of view. Video may be slightly NSFW if you have said type colleagues. But in the name of science!!

Alright folks, we all know how interested we are when the magic word is seen/heard/implied. Case in point: reproduction is the only science topic that needs absolutely no external motivation to get kids to listen. They are all ears, and then more. Nice in a way but could get pretty overwhelming and embarrassing to thin-skinned/young/female teachers. lol.

But I digress. So without further ado, I suggest you hit the links now:

1. Bug powder causes male bedbugs to stab each other to death with their penises
2. glass duck vaginas and explosive duck penises
3. how to masturbate an elephant (and it’s a proper job)

New Year

Actually not so much about crossing the arbitrary threshold into all-too-familiar sameness, but rather, some whimsically motivated ’spring cleaning/dusting’ of wasted blog..

2009 went by, largely unnoticed and unrecorded. Thoughts have become elusive and incoherent, the best of which come in the showers and on moving vehicles, and get evacuated by almost violent repulsion in the presence of a keyboard or pen. De-intellectualizing is also an intellectual process and often rather like Sisyphus, only in this case trying to let that stone roll down and walk to the hilltop instead..I am losing this thread of thought. Never mind.

On retrospect 2009 feels like some pitifully few highlights against a gray, cracked concrete of a background, of wastefully long stretches of not-unpleasant but ultimately bland and occasionally laughable ‘training’ experience. There were unquestionably moments of rapture, of embracing and being embraced, pure delight and joy from solitary experience or making a connection with friends, family and strangers. Then there’s always the blunt, irksome feeling of stagnation and lack of motivation lurking and ever ready to jump start bouts of severe procrastination, sickly and unhappy. I remember reading about bipolar disorder–didn’t seem like a ‘proper’ condition to me; perhaps because I myself have always experienced light ’symptoms’ and, despite everything, don’t regard my self as a mental patient. Yet. Heh. (An old friend told me before new year that he was institutionalized in the university mental asylum for a week. Apparently he spilled a lot of his long brewing anger and depression to departmental staff, which was usually reserved for himself or ranting sessions to me, flavored with suicidal talk, which was half a surprise to me. His short stay was positively interesting and comfortable enough though, so much so he said he didn’t mind living there had they not kicked him out for want of space, and I heartily dig that idea. =)

Now where was I? This is devolving into worse than stream of consciousness. It’s impure insert-delete-edit-moments of consciousness-into-stream-of-unconsciousness. A mind porous with too much tab hopping and fast browsing. Oh and that bring me to Reddit, my latest (and apparently a little late on the fad) addiction. Perhaps there’s no more apt way to describe the feeling as 找到组织了–that is, a congregations of nerds, geeks and general intelligent, self-deprecating witty people, and of course, a total black hole for productivity. The internet is not a series of tubes–it’s a galaxy of ginormous holes.

I’d like to try to keep this staccato thought-externalization going regularly–kinda de-clutter and detox those neurons high on junk information. And for the two souls still keeping an eye (read: subscription) on this blog, I wish you have a better time than the year past. Also, if words from my God the almighty Neil Gaiman may be repeated here:

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.

and

…I hope you will have a wonderful year, that you’ll dream dangerously and outrageously, that you’ll make something that didn’t exist before you made it, that you will be loved and that you will be liked, and that you will have people to love and to like in return. And, most importantly (because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now), that you will, when you need to be, be wise, and that you will always be kind.

Posterous – blog by email

Attention working geeks! I just discovered a brilliant new way to blog (“awww not again..”)–enters Posterous:

posterous

Kinda neat isn’t it? The handful of simple designs are appealing, too.

What’s lacking from this newborn is…nothing essential that I can think of, but most gadgety functions offered by blogspot or wordpress are probably missing right now.Which is not to say it’s a bad thing. Not at all.

Gonna test drive this one some (if I remember to blog more than once a month, that is..)

How can I not love Natalie?

Natalie Portman raps about…well this is a bit old and very likely that you have already seen it. I am in a cheerfully raging mood today and rewatching this for the gazillionth time fuels that fire very nicely. Enjoy:

An uncensored but unembedable version is here.
